’Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.
An extra stocking had been hung with care,
In hopes that a certain Sunshine would be there.
I was nestled all snug in my bed,
While visions of Justin danced in my head.
The horses in their stable, and my riding chaps,
Had just settled in for a long winter nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
To the window I flew with a dash,
Raised the shade and separated the sash,
When what to my wondering eye should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
It landed outside, and out Santa hopped,
He smiled with a wave, and his toy sack he dropped.
“Hello, Brian,” he called. “You’ve been a good boy, I hear,
“Why don’t you come collect your present out here?”
He turned back to the sleigh, his sleigh of bright red,
Then helped someone get out—someone with a blond head.
“Found him in New York, and I knew what to do,
From what he told me, he’d rather be with you.
That just before he left, you were to be wed,
Somehow, he ended up in New York instead,
What could old Santa do for him and for you,
But give him a ride to Britin and you.
I know that my poor reindeers’ tails I was bustin’
To get here to you, to deliver Justin.
Take care of him,” he said, a finger by his nose,
He returned to his sleigh, cracked the whip, then it rose.
And we heard him exclaim, ere he flew out of sight,
“That’s what Christmas is for—to make everything right!”
